- Authors
Chamberlain, Kevin
- Abstract
The article discusses the application of the U.S. Foreign Sovereign Immunity Act (FSIA) to the recovery of a painting expropriated by the Nazis during the World War II. The District Court for the Central District of California has ruled that FSIA is applicable prior to the adoption of restrictive theory of sovereign immunity. Section 1605 of the FSIA exempts the immunity rights of property taken in violation of the international law.
