- Abstract
This study aims to investigate the validity and reliability of Job Apathy Scale developed by Schmidt et al. (2017) by adapting it into Turkish. In the study, construct validity and reliability studies were conducted with 224 participants working in a part-time or full-time job, and discriminant validity was tested with 120 participants. Pearson correlation analysis and dependent samples t-test were used for the linguistic validity study. Job apathy scale, job satisfaction scale and personal information form developed by researchers were used as data collection tools. As a result of the confirmatory factor analysis conducted within the scope of the validity study, it was seen that the two-factor structure of the scale was validated. The Job Satisfaction Scale was used for the discriminant validity study and a negative and significant relationship was found between Job Apathy subscales and Job Satisfaction Scale. Within the scope of the reliability studies of the scale, the Cronbach Alpha internal consistency coefficient was found 0,92 for the whole scale, 0,92 for apathetic thought, and 0,85 for apathetic action. The findings revealed that the Job Apathy Scale is was a valid and reliable measurement tool in evaluating the attitudes of individuals in business life towards their job and that it could be used in Turkish culture. No measurement tool has been found in the literature that aims to measure a current problem such as job apathy
