- Abstract
The present study compares the narrative of "Balars Tötung durch Lug" in Irish mythology with the Norse myth of "Baldrs Tötung durch Loki". It argues that there are linguistic and structural parallels between these myths and the Indian myth of the "Verwundeten Sonne" (Wounded Sun). The study examines the parallels between the Irish myth of Balar, the Norse myth of Baldr, and the Indian myth of the wounded sun, and argues that these myths trace back to a common Indo-European mythological tradition. It also highlights similarities between the names of the characters in the Irish and Norse myths. The study concludes by suggesting that future research should incorporate additional Irish folklore and other Indo-European traditions to expand the findings.
