- Abstract
The article presents a surface roughness evaluation of composite resin polishing techniques. A small-particle, hybrid-filled composite resin was finished and polished with various instruments. Quantitative evaluation by profilometer and scanning electron microscope were performed. The diamond polishing techniques gave significantly rougher surfaces, with severe patterned gouging and noticeable particulate debonding .The polishing pastes uniformly exacerbated the particulate debonding when used after a routine polishing procedure. It was seen that a technique which used a fine diamond finishing stone and two grades of rubber cups or points left a significantly smoother surface.
