- Abstract
The paper is built on the findings of empirical research based on a sample of 225 Slovenian firms. Our goal is to examine the approaches that firms use to assure their competitiveness and, based thereon, offer judgment on the existence of potential models of competition in the Slovenian economy. It can be concluded that there are four such models. They differ mostly in the sources of competitive advantage, performance, and the size of firms and firms' strategies, whereas the difference regarding the forms of competitive advantage is less significant. Slovenian firms therefore take different approaches towards competitiveness, which is not very surprising considering the complexity of the process of competition.
