The article talks about the conditions faced by Mexican-American, African-American, and Anglo Baptists in Texas focusing on issues of race relations during the mid-twentieth century. Topics include the attitudes of Anglo Baptists for members of other ethnic backgrounds, issues of racism and segregation within the Baptist church, and emergence of social Christianity. Also discussed is the establishment of the Christian Life Commission (CLC) and paternalism by Baptist General Convention of Texas.
