- Abstract
The article presents an historical profile of the Seventh-Day Baptist denomination and their Sabbath-keeping practices in U.S. history. Details are given outlining the doctrinal foundations and distinctions of Seventh-Day Baptists from other Christian sects. An overview of the formation of the sect is given from the early 17th-century through the 20th-century, highlighting the challenges faced by the group in regards to relations with civil authorities and their reactions against the dominant Sabbath laws of the culture.
