- Abstract
(Echocardiography 2011;28:E19-E20) We relate the case of a 72-year-old patient who presented with an ST elevation myocardial infarction. Transthoracic echocardiography showed a tricuspid aortic valve and a partially thrombosed anterior sinus of Valsalva aneurysm. Transoesophageal echocardiography confi rmed the presence of a large aneurysm (40 × 50 mm) that was partially thrombosed and protruded into the right ventricle chamber. Magnetic resonance imaging confi rmed Valsalva aneurysm and right ventricular infarction. A coronary CT scan showed complete occlusion of the right coronary artery. So, we hypothesize that inferior myocardial infarction was due to migration of aneurysmal thrombus into the right coronary artery.
