- Abstract
The article discusses the assistance provided by the United Jewish Appeal-Federation of New York for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. It focuses on the Hurricane Katrina Relief Community, convened by the federation to develop a strategy and allocations process. The committee was able to determine what it lacked and its capacity based on what the federation brought to the table. The authors highlight the collaborative effort with United Jewish Communities and the federation to guarantee the vibrancy of all Jewish institutions in New Orleans.
