- Title
Detecting Eating Disorders During Pregnancy.
- Abstract
A recent study conducted in Canada examined the association between different types of eating disorders, such as anorexia nervosa (AN), bulimia nervosa (BN), and binge eating disorder (BED), with various birth outcomes in pregnant patients. The study found that AN was associated with a higher prevalence of low birth weight (LBW) and small for gestational age (SGA) infants, BN was associated with a higher prevalence of preterm birth (PTB), and BED was associated with a higher prevalence of large for gestational age (LGA) infants. However, none of the eating disorders were significantly associated with miscarriage. The study highlights the importance of screening for eating disorders during pregnancy and the need for further research in this area.
