- Abstract
The article provides information on the French land forces, projected to contribute 80% of the French Army's entire military operations. It states the modernization process of the French land forces. France's Army Chief General Elrick Irastorza notes that the French Army is in the third phase of its modernization process since the end of World War II with its full comeback to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) beginning in 2009. It discusses the professionalization of the French land force and the modernisation of its equipment. It mentions that less than 200 companies in France work for the land defence industry. It also highlights the objectives and significance of the French Army Scorpion programme.
