- Abstract
The article offers advice on how firms can get a better understanding of employee turnover. Companies need to determine turnover rates for several key categories including tenure, job performance, and skill set. Both the cost and causes of turnover by category also needs to be established. Interviews with both new and former employees can provide valuable information. Combating unduly high turnover will likely involve modification in at least one of compensation, benefits, work content, affiliation, and the availability of career opportunities within the firm.
