- Abstract
The article titled "Distinguishing General Medicine from General Practice: Compliment vs. Devaluation - Opportunity vs. Danger for General Practice" discusses the distinction between general medicine and general practice in the context of the National Competency-Based Learning Objective Catalogue for Medicine (NKLM 2.0). The author, Fabian Dupont, emphasizes the importance of a clear appreciation of teaching and teaching colleagues in order to strengthen general practice. He explains that basic medical competencies are not tied to a specific specialty and that general practice imparts many of these competencies. Dupont also addresses the generational problem in general practice and emphasizes the need to generate more enthusiasm for the field. He concludes with an appeal to shape the future of general practice through good role modeling and experiences, and to constantly question whether one is speaking in the interest of the younger generation.
