- Abstract
The article presents a commentary which addresses the importance of socioeconomic status (SES) in the assesssment of coronary heart disease (CHD) risk. Biomedical, psychosocial, and behavioral mediators are pathways between SES and CHD. A discussion of discrimination and calibration in risk models is presented. Disparities in treatment are addressed. Bias in risk assessment and choice of SES measure are also discussed.
