Sweden Turns Inward.

- Abstract
The article comments on the inward and backward movement of political parties in Sweden. The Social Democrats or SAP remain the largest party in parliament, while the right-wing nationalist Sweden Democrats (SD) comes second. The descent of SAP from parliamentary plurality is attributed to its loss of political direction, embrace of neoliberalism, and support for austerity in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis. The author views that SAP and SD are giving up their ideological and political distinctiveness, emptying themselves of political meaning and have turned toward right-wing-nationalism.
