- Authors
Voelker, Rebecca
- Abstract
The article reports that dog walking can improve health and help people lose weight. Jacqueline Epping, a researcher in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Physical Activity and Health Branch, and Sandra Ham, a CDC health statistician, have published their research on dog walkers. Robert Kushner of the Wellness Institute at Northwestern Memorial Hospital has studied weight loss in dog-walking adults and written a book. Kushner comments on the influence of pets on patients' health and suggests that physicians talk to their patients about pets.
