- Authors
Ridker, Paul M.; Torres, Jose
- Abstract
The article presents a medical study examining the connection between the funding source and the reporting of positive results in randomized cardiovascular trials between 2000 and 2005. According to the article, cardiovascular clinical trials funded by for-profit organizations report positive results more often than trials funded by not-for-profit organizations. The article discusses jointly funded clinical trials, how trials funded by for-profit organizations favored newer treatments, and trials that used surrogate end points such as intravascular ultrasound and quantitative angiography.
