- Title
Chernobyl's Legacy Probed.
- Abstract
This article looks at a World Health Organization (WHO) report on the number of deaths caused by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. WHO has documented in excess of 9,000 cancer deaths related to Chernobyl and 5,000 people who were children at the time are known to have thyroid cancer. Some environmental groups estimate that the numbers could be 10 times higher and WHO believes that the actual number will never be known.
