- Abstract
The aim of this paper is to demonstrate the possibility of incorporating the general principles and the tenets of the Narrative Therapy Model created by White and Epston (1990) into the current psychopedagogical assessment. The focus will be on the work of an educational counsellor's team (EOEP) in the Primary Education stage. The main questions addressed in the present work are: a) Is it possible to apply the Narrative Therapy principles to the psycho-educational assessment and the subsequent writing of the psycho-educational report? b) Could the school counselling be enriched with the Narrative Practice perspective? and c) How can Narrative Practice helps school counsellors to guide not only to the students but also their families? We propose an exploratory descriptive single-case study as the first approach to the introduction of narrative ideas in a psycho-pedagogical assessment process. As a general answer to the arising questions, it could be found that Narrative Practice offers a much richer description of the educational and social reality of the children. The psycho-educational report is broadened and allows students and their families to reflect on the personal resources and strategies they put into practice every day to favour the children's school progress. Further research is needed to provide information that will allow for a much broader and more generalizable results.
