- Abstract
The article discusses the constitutionality of unilateral municipal annexations (MAs) as of May 2013, focusing on political discourse and property ownership rights in states such as North Carolina. According to the article, North Carolina passed a bill in 2012 which ends the state's use of involuntary MAs which allowed certain classes of municipal corporations to expand their borders without the approval of the newly annexed area's residents. Urban blight and property taxes are examined.
