- Authors

- Abstract
The tradition of bhakti, started in India in pre-Christian times, presents the typical features of a monotheistic religion (ekānta, literally "in conformity with the One"). The paper considers the major traits of vaiava devotion, taking into account sources, schools, and the teachers who have most significantly characterized the history of this faith. Finally, the spread in the West of gaudīya bhakti, which began in the United States during the "counterculture" movement in the Sixties of the 20th century, is outlined.
