- Abstract
The author reflects on the measurement of bone mineral density (BMD) in Indian women. She says that several community-based study reported by the Indian Council of Medical Research do provide population-based standards of peak BMD for Indian population. She emphasizes that there is a need to measure the bone mineral apparent density of Indian women. She stresses that it will be helpful to have data from longitudinal studies that correlate the BMD values with the fracture risk in Indian women.
