A reprint of the article which appeared in the Summer 1988 issue is presented in which the author offers a criticism of the work of the African American author Henry Dumas including "Ark of Bones," "Jonah and the Green Stone," and "Rope of Wind.". He discusses Dumas' use of style, the appropriateness of his settings, and the realism that he achieved in his works.
