- Title
What is your diagnosis? Urine crystals in a dog.
- Authors
Escobar, Carolina; Grindem, Carol B.
- Abstract
The article presents a case study of a Golden Retriever which was examined for several episodes of regurgitation and was diagnosed with megaesophagus. It states that in the infrared spectroscopy, a spectrum of the crystals was determined that matched references for ciprofloxacin. It notes that although nephrotoxicity associated with ciprofloxacin has not been reported in dogs, recognition of these crystals is essential owing to the potential of the drug to cause renal failure in people.
