Abstract
The article investigates whether the loss of privacy in personal health data a price worth paying for the presumed benefits. It discusses how researcher can balance the effort to recruit large numbers of people into studies through digital technology with the need to protect privacy. According to Professor David Magnus, privacy protection becomes weaker as more physicans empower patients and research participants to be partners in their health or research.
