The article presents a study conducted by a group of researchers from Stanford University, Stanford, California and their collaborators which focused on profiling individual circulating tumor cells (CTC) which break away from primary tumors and enter the bloodstream. The study addresses two issues including analysis of tumor cells against contaminating leukocytes, and dealing with the heterogeneity of cells derived from single tumors.
