- Abstract
The article discusses the importance of flexible, scalable approaches to bioinformatics provision in smaller research institutes and university research departments. Norwich, England-based Sainsbury Laboratory has transitioned to a bottom-up model of bioinformatics provision in order to adapt to the influx of big data sets from high-throughput approaches. Tools, such as the workflow engineering environment Galaxy, are used for reducing the perceived barrier in data management and access.
