- Abstract
The article discusses the speed in validating disease biomarkers through the integration of targeted mass spectrometry into proteomic pipelines. It cites studies including one by Whitaker et al on a mouse model for determining candidate biomarkers of breast cancer and triage by Addona et al on 121 cardiac injury early biomarkers found in blood analysis of patients during a myocardial infarction treatment for hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy. It also notes mass spectrometry methods in both studies including selection reaction monitoring (SRM).
