- Title
Chemoproteomics quantifies complexity.
- Authors
Holson, Edward B.; Schreiber, Stuart L.
- Abstract
The authors discuss M. Bantscheff's article on the use of mass spectrometry in measuring the binding affinities of small molecules to native histone deactylase (HDAC) megadalton complexes in cell lysates. They say that Bantscheff and his colleagues have discovered new targets of HDAC inhibitors as well as new protein components of native HDAC complexes. They also discuss the limitations of using interactions with protein domains or recombinant proteins as a surrogate for interactions with proteins.
