- Title
LIFE AT SANT' ANSELMO: EUROPEAN LETTERS OF FR. PETER MIZERA, 1920-24.
- Authors
Flint, James
- Abstract
The article examines the letters of Father Peter Mizera of Saint Procopius Abbey, the first member of the Czech-American community to be sent for European study, in order to get a glimpse of his life at the international Benedictine college of Sant'Anselmo in an earlier era. He was a man of strong opinions and has expressed his dislike of the system at Sant'Anselmo. His remarks on the pedagogy is presented. It highlights how in Mizera's view, students were treated as children, the only exception being that priests were allowed to offer Mass.
