- Abstract
Iron and Steel Industry is considered a key infrastructure industry and has received a lot of government support. The Government of India has taken various steps to build it from the time of independence. In the post-liberalization scenario, due to globalization, the exports condition of India has become very crucial. The Government of India is planning to boost the exports of iron and steel. In any economy, export is important to maintain its growth rate and in an emerging economy like India, it has been found that the firms which are a part of big business groups perform better than the stand-alone individual firms, because the group firms are in a better position with regard to investment and innovation capabilities. This study aims to compare the export performance of group firms and individual firms in the Indian Iron and Steel Industry as well as to explore the relationships between export performance and several structural and performance factors for both the group and individual firms.
