Reports on the transmission of tubuloglomerular feedback signals in macula dense cells. Involvement of such transmission in the detection of changes in luminal fluid composition by specialized macula dense cells; Monitoring of the luminal fluid environment and the transmission of information to the underlying mesangial cells; Development of techniques to directly study macula dense cells and to isolate and perfuse segments of the cortical thick ascending limbs containing such cells.
