The article discusses the pathophysiology of growth failure in chronic renal insufficiency. Some of the patterns of growth seen with chronic renal disease and its treatment are examined. Possible etiologic factors are reviewed. Investigations regarding the role of endocrine dysfunction in renal failure are analyzed.
