- Abstract
The article describes two strands of cultured pearls which proved to be from the Pinctada margaritifera mollusk that featured colors other than brown that showed evidence of bleaching. The cultured pearls in the first strands are described as having good luster, moderately spotted surfaces and good matching. On the other hand, it was observed that the color variation in the second strand was broader and more pronounced. Based on Energy dispersive X-ray Fluorescence (EDXRF) analysis of the cultured pearls in the second strand, calcium and strontium were detected.
