- Authors
Hogg, Allen
- Abstract
The article discusses the efficacy of acupuncture in treating nausea, vomiting, and pain. Acupuncture became established in China during the first century B.C. and coincided with the teachings of Confucianism and Taoism. Compared to Western Medicine (WM), acupuncture is based on human sensory awareness and employs the concepts of the Five Elements, Qi, yin and yang. Based on a report by the World Health Organization (WHO) there is growing evidence that acupuncture is effective for curing postoperative nausea, chronic pain, and hypertension.
