- Title
Should PA associations take a stand on public policy initiatives and referendums?
- Authors
ANDERSON, JIM
- Abstract
The article discusses the role and responsibility of physician assistant (PA) associations in the advocacy of public policy initiatives and referendums. The author explains that PAs and other clinicians are required by beneficence to help patients, with patient advocacy as a core component in mission statements of various state PA associations including those of Oregon, Washington State, and New York. Nonmaleficence requires PAs and clinicians to promote safe and harm-free care for patients.
