- Abstract
The article discusses the increased need of silicon integrated circuit (IC) downconverters by manufacturers using Bipolar Complementary Metal-oxide Semiconductor (BiCMOS) technologies. It compares the discrete component approach of the downconverters with fully integrated solutions with the help of several circuit diagrams. It elaborates on the BiCMOS field-effect transistor (FET) based mixer design, and provides an example for Silicon-Germanium (SiGe) BiCMOS downconverter design.
