The New Cultural Geology.
- Authors
McGurl, Mark
- Abstract
The article discusses the developments in the postmodern literature, particularly in the U.S. It cites several of the cultural formations during the period, including naturalism, primitivism and literary modernism. It presents the exomodern concept that is used to replace postmodernism that tries to imagine what lies beyond or alongside style. It compares the decay of the postmodern with that of the crumbling to the ground of the New Hampshire geological formation called the Old Man of the Mountain on May 3, 2003.
