- Abstract
The article discusses how the Civil Works Administration (CWA) has helped Anderson County, Texas from 1933-1934 during the height of the Great Depression. The CWA was created by U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt as an immediate relief activity that would provide unskilled or low skilled workers with means to earn money. An analysis of the work accomplished by men and women in Anderson County in the early days of federal programs to relieve unemployment is provided.
