- Title
Neurodegeneration: Trouble in the cell's powerhouse.
- Authors

- Abstract
The article focuses on a study conducted by Girard and colleagues that analyzes the location of sacsin relevant in assessing the mechanism that triggers hereditary ataxias, including autosomal recessive spastic ataxia of Charlevoix - Saguenay, or ARSACS. Using mouse as model for the study, it has been ruled out that sacsin deficiency results in unusually shaped, large mitochondria, further leading to Purkinje-cell loss. Findings have also provided insights in neurodegenerative disorders.
