- Abstract
The article "Editorial" deals with the changes in the media landscape and the media legal framework. UFITA aims to accompany these changes from a communication science and media legal perspective. The article contains discussion contributions on various topics such as the influence of platforms on the dissemination of news media, the role of television in broadcasting law, and the regulation of media intermediaries. It also discusses the impact of artificial intelligence on the media sector and the EU's new regulation on artificial intelligence, the Artificial Intelligence Act. Marinos Emmanouil Kalpakos' contribution in UFITA deals with the AI Act and its impact on fundamental rights protection and the promotion of innovation in Europe. Kalpakos examines the Commission's proposal, the opinions of the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union, as well as the compromise text agreed upon by the legislative bodies. The article also discusses possible improvements and solutions for existing gaps and difficulties. UFITA also includes a review on public broadcasting and a journal review.
