The article presents an account of British poet Samuel Rogers's poem "Italy" within in context to the Britain's post-Waterloo visual?verbal culture. It examines the ways in which Rogers responded to developments in the commercial print market like growing popularity for keepsakes and annuals, dependency of the publishing market on word-image constellations and changing relationship between Italy and Britain. Also talks about the growing purchasing power of female audience.
