- Abstract
Presents an evaluation of the biogeochemistry of sulfur done during thirty four years at the human-manipulated forest ecosystems of the Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest (HBEF) in New Hampshire. Decline in concentration and input of SO42m in atmospheric bulk wet deposition, and in concentration in stream water of the HBEF since 1964; Increased rates of organic matter decomposition and nitrification due to the destruction and removal of vegetation on experimental watershed-ecosystems at HBEF.
