- Abstract
The article discusses black racial authenticity in U.S. popular culture in relation to various female black and African-American comedians such as Thea Vidale, LaWanda Page, and Marsha Warfield who have addressed human sexuality and their sexual pleasures in their stand-up comedy routines over the years. The Comedy Act Theater in Los Angeles, California is addressed in relation to black comedy. Women comedians such as Luenell, Simply Marvelous, and Sheryl Underwood are also examined.
