- Authors
JENNINGS, RACHEL
- Abstract
The article considers reality television programs in Great Britain, particularly the type of reality program known as makeover programs. The popularity of such programs in the U.S. is noted, and it is considered whether the corresponding popularity and prevalence of makeover programs in Great Britain indication an absorption of U.S cultural values. The depiction of British national identity in the programs "Changing Rooms," "Ground Force" and "What Not to Wear" is discussed, especially examples of when that depiction also includes attitudes associated with U.S. national identity.
