Walking my dog in `Sand Dunes.'
- Authors
Brogunier, Joseph
- Abstract
The article analyzes the poems "I started Early--Took my Dog--" by Emily Dickinson and "Sand Dunes" by Robert Frost. It examines the influence Dickinson's poem likely had on Frost, noting that both are ironic and humorous works set by the seashore. Particular attention is also given to the symbolic nature of the sea in both poems as the author suggests it represents threats and fear as well as an emphasis on human experience.
