Rare diseases offer insights into autism spectrum disorders.
- Abstract
The article focuses on researches related to genetic disorder disease which provides insights on the causes of autism spectrum disorder. An overview of several researches on rare disorders, including Rett syndrome which is caused by mutations in the MECP2 gene and shows symptoms of autism disorder spectrum is presented. It notes that the studies demonstrate that genetic molecular abnormalities can be reversed, thus, can alleviate or eliminate the symptoms of autism spectrum disorder.
