- Title
Anti-inflammatory drugs may not protect cognitive function.
- Abstract
The article discusses the findings from Alzheimer's Disease Anti-Inflammatory Prevention Trial (ADAPT) that suggests anti-inflammatory drugs do show any protective effects among a high-risk group. The randomized clinical trial which spanned from March 2001-December 2004 involved participants with a family history of Alzheimer's. ADAPT further revealed that the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) naproxen and celecoxib are actually detrimental to the cognitive function of the patients.
