- Abstract
Climate changes are becoming one of the biggest challenges facing the world today. The consequences of such changes are becoming evident in all sectors of economic activity in Republic of Macedonia. One sector in particular, such as the tourism sector is most directly affected from climate changes and its effects. Sport tourism, however, in its specific form has subspecies that exist exclusively on natural resources, which in return are directly dependent on climate cycles. Therefore, the subject of this paper is to present the relations of climate changes and the tourism sector as a part of the overall economic activity, with a special aspect on various types of sports tourism and the economic consequences thereof. By applying descriptive analysis, it is concluded that the tourism, especially some types of sports tourism, are directly dependent on climate change with a similar trend of behavior. A number of interventions in national economies are needed in order to mitigate the effects of the climate changes and adapt on their influence. A quick and urgent action is needed towards optimal utilization of natural resources through generators of scientific knowledge, application of innovations and technologies and direct interventions by the state with measures such as subsidizing and financing.
