The article highlights the behavior of wolves and public perception in Anglo-Saxon England. Topics discussed include Anglo-Saxon documents referring to practical measures taken against wolves, depiction of wolves as part of a pastoral allegory of spiritual danger in the Bible, portrayal of wolves living far away from people in the Old English poem "Exodus," and influence of the wolf's symbolic existence on an Anglo-Saxon law outlawing people for committing heinous crimes.
